Yeah, a tachinid ... perhaps
Nemorilla floralis? Do you have a few more angles - ones that might should the 'shoulders' a bit better? I only ever see
Nemorilla in collections or in photos ... never seem to catch them myself.

What views would you recommend as best to aid identification from photographs, Chris?

Depends on the fly ... everything needs different bits ... but in general aim to get lots of photos from as many angles as possible. A good dorsal showing the wings too plus lateral body and face lateral too. But really just get lots - even if it is just a back leg in focus - you never know :)
