Found it in 2010.VII.18 in sand dunes of Espinho.


Peleteria rubescens? Proboscis is black and can reach to the forelegs and palpi seems to be orange and small. Unfortunately palpi are very badly visible.


The first photo shows the Peleteria bristles.

Yes, a Peleteria, but first impression is not rubescens

Check the hairs on sternite 1. If light -> P. varia

sternites 2, 3 and 4 have strong bristles in the middle..
And sternite 1 it has clearly yellow small bristles.
So P. varia.
