Hi,
Yesterday evening I saw this fly in a composite flower head. My guess is Rhinophoridae, but here my knowledge ends. A gallery comparison was also not helpful. So I am waiting for the experts!
Thanks, Sundew

Looks like a tachinid to me... something like Zeuxia.

Well, there also Tachinids with a distinct petiolus, I know... So let's change the title. Thanks!

Hmm, it does rather look like Zeuxia cinerea but I think I'd prefer Theo's confirmation ;)

Today I found that the fly was dead, so I kept it and can photograph details, if needed. It looks a bit shrivelled meanwhile...

I am delighted to know a new to me genus. Is the dead one of any interest?

I have enough of those, so share it with Chris, if you like.
