Thread subject: Diptera.info :: identification of fly from northern NY

Can anyone identify this fellow? He was feeding on something that was on fern fronds in the central area of the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York. I could not determine what he was eating, but it was clear he was. My recollection was that he was perhaps 4mm long, but I am not certain of that.

Sciomyzidae.
Probably Tetanocera.
