Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tabanidae.. Atylotus?

I thought this Tabanid was pale-coloured because it was immature, but from photos maybe it is Atylotus?

All femora look mostly dark, so is A. rusticus possible?

Seen today on chalk cliff-top at Seaford, Sussex.

I am not too familiar with male IDing, but I believe you are right and you have got Tabanus rusticus. But, of course, wait for Theo to be 100% sure :-) Libor

Yes, it looks like the male of A. rusticus, though I cannot rule out latistriatus for sure.
