Hello all,

Can anybody tell me something more about this black tachinid which sat on or wall in the house?

Picture taken 07-07-2010 in Hasselt, Belgium.

Thank you all!

Interesting ... not entirely sure that it isn't a rhinophorid but do you have any more angles that show the head better? :)

Isn't this Paykullia maculata?

Could very well be :) The wing veins do look shaded.

Thanks guys! :)
Here's a bigger crop of the head. That's all I have. :(

I'm kicking this one up again, because I saw this one when I was reviewing the Rhinophoridae in my collection and on waarneming.be. I suggested this one is more consistent with Stevenia then Paykullia - I may be wrong of course ...

I guess the best thing would be to see the head; but the lack of a clear band in the middle of the wing seems for me better for Stevenia. Any other opinions ? Joris
