Hi to all!

I found this wonderful photo in one of russian sites devoted to photoequipment. Unfortunately I don't know where exactly this photo was taken, probably in European part of Russia.

Is it possible to try to determinate this fly? I would be very grateful!;)

Nikolai

The photo's nice. However, it does not fit descriptions of any known species of Dorycera. Amnon Freidberg and his PhD student Hanan Ackerman started a revision some 12 years ago, but no results have been ever publshed. Perhaps one of their undescribed species, which are numerous in Turkey.

Hehehe))) Valery, you're right! I looked that site carefully and found the location - apparently this is Israel, which is close to Turkey.

I am unaware about Israeli new species. However, the locality facilitates ID in the case most key characters are not visible. I also took a look at our collection: it fits Dorycera judaea Hendel, 1908 in its abdomen broad yellowish grey microtrichose areas, so that is the answer.

Now, you can change the topic to "Ulidiidae: Dorycera judaea"

However, the foto can be copyrighted, and I strongly insist you to change picture into a link in this case.
