This is about 3mm length with a very short terminal arista and as you can see very large genitalia. I thought it would be an easy one to determine with Collin's key to British species, but clearly I am going wrong somewher as I just cannot run this down in the key.

Can anyone suggest the genus please?

Shropshire, UK 3 July 2010. In a small swarm over shallow water at the edge of a pool.

Even better, I have a species for you: Rhamphomyia (Pararhamphomyia) physoprocta, male.

Brilliant Paul - thanks. I at least had been trying to key it through Rhamphomyia, so now I can work out where I had been going wrong in my decison making.
This appears to be a very scarce species in the UK.
