Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Strange dark and unknown flies

Dear Forum,

I'm sorry that I even cannot propose a familiy for these two flies.
I found the first one the 27.06 in Remerschen (Luxemburg, border triangle of Luxemburg, France and Germany, MTB 6504) in a rather high grassfield. It was about 8mm long.
The second fly was quite similar concernig the size and found in an grassfield as well whre ist landed on a leaf.
Unfortunately I am hopelessly overstrained with most flies, but as I participated in an Geo-Biodiversity-Day, it would be pretty good to have as many species as possible defined. That's why I would better have register the species (if an identification ist possible at all) with the Name of the determinator - just for anyone to know.

I would be very gratefull for your help an hope the pics are sufficient.

Kind regards,
Svenja

Hallo,

thank you very much for your quick help!
Waht a pity that a determination up to the correct species is impossible.

Regards,
Svenja

IT could be possible. I do not know well the Sciomyzidae family. We have experts here in DI for this family. Nikita or Stéphane or ... could tell you by sure what it can be.
I'd say a Coremacera sp.

Hello again,

so I can wait still.
I took a look at the gallery an me too I found the genus Coremacera pretty fitting. But I am not sure at all. As I said, I am not a specialist in flies at all and therefor I am really cautious with them.

So tahnk you again for your information,
kind regards,
Svenja
