Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinidae?

Appears to have a substantial subscutellum so presumably a Tachinidae and not Phyto (although it does look a lot like one). If Tachinidae it keys out in Belshaw as Microsoma exiguum, which has orange palps and antenna 3, also slightly different venation. Is it Phyto and have I mistaken the subscutellum; or is it a Tachinid, in which case which one?

Microsoma exiguum is about 2mm long so it isn't one of those :D My guess would be that it's a rhinophorid again ... the subscutellum looks a bit weedy to me - and might not be completely rounded.

What do you mean 'not a Phyto'

The calyptra is small, the topcell stalked and the head profile is like a Phyto, so...
