Thanks for that Jan Willem...the male was photographed in the garden on Foxglove, the female was on an unaccessable Foxglove leaf to be photographed, so I tore the leaf off the plant and carried it into the greenhouse and took the pics on the staging. The female was so engrossed with what she was doing I could have taken many more than the 17 pics I took. The last picture of the female shows her scratching the surface of the leaf prior to egg laying. I then released her on another Foxglove plant in the garden. No point in her laying eggs on a leaf that had been torn off and was going to shrivel up. Wish all flies were so amenable.
