Hi guys,
Does anyone have any ideas on this one. It is about the size of a small mosquito, appears to have long segmented antennae and the haltere seem long and protruding unlike anything I have seen before. Sorry about the shot quality, it was constantly hunting around on the ground waving its front legs around. Possibly in Bibionidae?

Taken in the hinterland of the Widebay area of Queensland.

Any thoughts or an ID much appreciated
