Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Heleomyzidae for Andrzej

Chased this little fly around a fencepost for 10 minutes yesterday morning trying to photograph it..to no avail. All I got was one poor lateral shot and one from behind and one of its arse disappearing around a corner. Who is this shy fly ?

Really big beast B)
It's a fat male of Heleomyza species !
Probably H. borealis but I will check the pics in the evening.

Well big beast compared with a Chloropid..:), this was only about 4-5mm.
I found some other photo's taken 6 days ago.(Looks like the same fly)...also rubbish as it was walking away in an inaccessible place, but they show the wings and back of head.
H.borealis was my first impression too B).






First photo to make sure it is the same type.
