A small male empididae, with an amazingly long proboscis. It's feeding on geranium flowers in a wood clearing.
Seneffe (Belgium), June 2 2010
ID anyone ?

Thanks in advance
Philippe

Dark Empis male on Geranium - might be E. pennipes, they love cranesbills! Cp. http://www.dipter...ost_134805.

Thanks all! There weren't any females around, so I did not get the clue for pennipes in the first place.
Cheers
