Yesterday about 23:00 h, several of these flies were collected on the sheet of a light trap.
Any idea what species this might be? I ended up at Phorocera myself but ....................

The Netherlands, Tilburg, "De Kaaistoep".

The genitalia look big enough to be Phorocera, so it is possible ... though the scutellum isn't dark so it wouldn't be obscura :)

Thanks Chris! I will give it another try :).

I agree. Very interesting record, but species is trivial: Phorocera obscura.
Yes, it is obscura, despite the reddish scutellum, have a look at the excavation in syntergite 1&2.

In my collections, these guys (and girls) are under the nickname 'rufoscutellata'

Thanks Theo,

Good to know that I had at least the genus right:). And indeed the excavation clearly doesn't reach the apex of syntergite 1+2.
All Tachinidae I found that night belonged to this species.
