To be a bit more serious, in many fly families (not in all, but here too) the eyes of the males are very close together - you can see them touch in the middle of the head. There is a clear distance between the eyes of females. Look for examples in the gallery (Syrphids are also a good one). Then, your flies have a tapering abdomen tip, the ladies are much rounder (especially when being pregnant :D).
