Thread subject: Diptera.info :: small Tachinid - Microsoma

Hi,
This is a small fly of today. (The light was very bad, so these are my best pics.) I consider it a Rhinophorid resembling Rhinophora lepida, but the latter looks a bit different on my earlier photos. The new one is somewhat shorter as to abdomen and also petiolus. ID help is appreciated!

Looks like Microsoma exiguum (Tachinidae).

Indeed it does! And I should have recognized it :|... Oh, that petiole, how often did it lead me in the wrong direction (in this case, to Rhinophoridae). The only thing I may be proud of is that I excluded Rhinophora lepida. Microsoma it is, thanks!

As long as the month is still May, don't worry about Rhinophora.
