Hi,

Tachinidae season has started up here. I was thinking some Actia first but there are no setulae on weins. May 11.2010 Helsinki, Finland.

Hmm, how big is it? That deep gena, wide frons and thickened arista must be very distinctive :) The one that comes to mind is Bothria frontosa but it's just a wild guess.

This is small, Actia or Ceranthia size. Bothria is a lot larger.

Very odd, it just doesn't look like any siphoniine - no hairs of r4+5, hairy eyes etc. I am just wondering if it is an unusually small example of something that is usually bigger.

I have two specimens. Both same size and same malaise.

Thank's Theo for Your long list of flies with ID. This old one from the spring might still interest You.

What about Cyzenis albicans ?

The scutellar should be lacking, in that case.

The fly is at my home and I will go there after two months. Then I can check the scutellar and we will know the answer :) Thank's Theo
