Not the finest piece of photography I've ever done but this is all I got of this fly...:| I thought it was an Oecothea sp. but it is lacking spines on tibia 2. Some kind of
Eccoptomera or something totally different? Neither genus gets a mention in my Checklist.

Did you consider Heterocheila buccata (not Heleomyzidae because no vibrissae) ?
Thanks Stephane and Andrzej for putting me right...:D
:| It didn't cross my mind that this could be
H.buccata..I was looking at the odd head shape and didn't even notice that the vibrisse were missing. I have 5 photo's of
H.buccata in the Gallery which gives this an embarrassment factor of 5/10. The only thing in my defence is the different gender of that fly, as the head shape is nothing like this one. So is this a male or female of the species? Just so I know next time.
Regards Roger....back under the stairs again.
Not the finest bit of ID'ing I've ever done...just to match the photography.
