hi flyforum,

Yesterday, I found a little bibio sp., size 5-6mm

I try to find out if the antenne of this sp. is typical short or normal?
I count 7 antenneparts, correct?
The wing is transparant (on detailpicture 3 it is the flashlight what turns it milky)

The wingstigma is dark, but you can see some darkness arround it (sharp or not-sharp?)

I can use some help with it I think..

I'm only responding because no one else is :-). My guess would be Bibio johannis. But just wait for the opinion of someone who knows anything about bibionids.

Then I don't understand the issue in the key;

- the shins are even as ligth as the femur...

In this bibio, the femur are very dark..

The stigma should be braunish, that's what I can see (but also very dark braun)

I'm not sure which key you are using, but it is obviously johannis:

thorax and abdomen black haired
stigma blackish
tibiae reddish

Sorry for my misunderstanding, but I've read it often in the key and I don't understand?;

I read in the key of 1997 (Zeegers), under point 16 that:
Tibia are at least as light as the femur. The stigma of the wing is darkbraun > 17

in Dutch:
Schenen minstens zo licht als de dijen. Vleugelstigma donkerbrun.
