Hi,

this 10mm fly was sitting on a fence.
Could this be Alophora/Phasia hemiptera? (No idea which of the names is currently in use).

I sort of expected darker patches on the wings and some brown-ish bits on the abdomen.
But anyway, that's the closest I can get.

Germany, Hamburg, 17th April 2010

Thanks in advance for your help

Phasia hemiptera yes - from the ginger hair on the sides of the thorax :)

I've had early-brood P.hemiptera here on 24/4/2004 - nectaring on flowers in woodland without any leaves yet ... though they are as rare as hen's teeth :D
