Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Yellowish grey Tachinidae (13.04.10) --> Phryno vetula

Hi!

These 7-8 mm Tachinidae were numerous at the forest border today (northwest Germany, 14 °C, sunny). At least I believe, they were all from the same species...

Hebia flavipes. These were numerous also in Northern France in early May some years back. I haven't seen any here in Finland...

Hebia flavipes has the eyes bare, so my suggestion would be Phryno vetula, another Goniini / Eryciini

Yes of course...:@ that was the species I was actually thinking of but somehow I always mix the two by names (yellow legs)... Also I haven't seen either in Finland so they are not the most familiar species, albeit easily recognizable...
