Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomyiidae - Fucellia?

Hi friends,
To break my long silence I show you some flies from the Baltic shore I met on Rugia Island two weeks ago. Many of them were on the feathers of a dead sea bird and had much fun together. I suppose it is
Fucellia. Can be said more?
I am afraid the number of my photos of unidentified flies is inversely proportional to the time I can spend on them. So any help is greatly appreciated!
Regards, Sundew

So we agree in the genus, but
F. fucorum has black tibiae and mine have brownish ones.
F. maritima or
F. tergina seem to be better candidates...
Thanks, Roger.

Hi Sundew
I only zoomed in on the first set of pics, the legs on those look very dark to me, the other sets of pics they look brownish....maybe there are not all the same species ???? Or maybe my eyes are in need of a re-test...sans San Miguel. :|

I'd say you have reasons both.
Photo N2 t2 with av legs black - fucorum
Photo NN 7,8 t2 without av, tibiae yellow in basal part - maritima or tergina

Well, I checked all my pics - and there is a lot of them - for the colour of the legs, but it is difficult to decide, as the light was suboptimal. However, some flies have a darker frons and thorax and possibly dark tibiae, and the couples always seem to be of identical colour. So there are two species indeed! (I wished I knew the variability of the species, it is hard to estimate, being a non-expert.) I add two more photos of a lighter and a darker specimen.
Thanks for discussion. Regards, Sundew

Hi Sundew
Bottom one looks the same as mine
fucorum and the top one as Nikita says either
maritima or
tergina, Sorry I don't know how to tell those two apart. Apologies for not looking at the second and third set of photo's in larger size...I assumed wrongly that they were all the same species.
Regards Roger
