Hello Forum,
Just checking my identification. Does this look like a Lophosceles cinereiventis male?

It could be it, and it would be very interesting. If arista is almost bare, 4 post dc, acr rows distinct, short prealar and no Thricops setulae on post. inner edge of hind coxa, then I think it is it. I have not yet found any Lophosceles.:|

Thanks Stephane, Yes that's the species then. Lophosceles are apparently common in British woodlands, so I'll look out for more specimens this year.

This seems quite a rare one in Finland nowadays. I've collected only a single specimen in the wake of the beginning of my "career" back in 2001 (I remember it was a very cold May day) and I guess not many other modern Finnish dipterists have recorded it.
