Hello,
I have an old specimen taken by A Kocak from North Pakistan (Dir, Lowari Pass 3200m) in 1987. Unfortunately my photos are not so sharp but I think especially wing markings may be helpful in ID of the species. It looks like a Rhagoletis or Urophora species, or else? Many thanks in advance.

I think it's a
Rivellia (Platystomatidae)

Thank you Kahis and Valery for ID. Meanwhile I made a quick search in the internet but could not find a reference article on the Rivellia of South West Asia. Is there any modern publication on this group, or not exists.

Sorry. Absolutely no comprehensive revisions, and a lot of similar species with genitalic differences, plus many synonyms. Hara sterted some in 1990s but then changed his job an had not finished his revision.

I agree, and it's a tricky genus. I am working toward plugging this gap, but apologise for slow progress. At present this specimen cannot be determined to species. I would tentatively place it in the
R. fusca (Thomson, 1869) group, but this is little more than an educated guess.
