Hello,

this ~8mm muscidae - is it? - is from october from the prefecture Gifu in Japan from a garden in a small village.

There are some similar colored flies in the gallery, but which don't have the bend in the wing nerv.

Does someone know something about this fly?

Thanks,
Michael

P.S. If it helps, there is also a lateral view.

Calliphoridae. I absolutely don't know the japanese blow flies, but this one looks like Dexopollenia flava. Maybe Gabor (Xespok) can confirm this...

Hello,

I found Gabors old thread in the japanese diptera-forum here: http://diptera.jp...p;num=1024 and another very similar picture here: http://diptera.jp...p;num=1505

It seems, there is no similar species. The place where I found it - prefecture Gifu, near the prefecture Nagano, and somewhat in the mountains, also fit very well. So I am now rather sure, that you are right.

Thanks again,
Michael
