Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomidae - Hydrophoria silvicola?

12 May 2008, The Netherlands, Kiersche Wiede (De Wieden).
On a muddy path in damp forrest with Alnus glutinosa.

Id. possible?

I would say that it is Hydrophoria silvicola, but to be sure I would need to see the scutellum covered with hairs, lower calypter projecting, and proboscis shining black. None of these are very clear in the photo.

I have no better picture from proboscis. A foto with a slightly different angel shows scutellum with hairs (at both sides). I don't know how to judge length of lower calypter, but it is clearly projecting the upper one,
