Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomyiidae-Botanophila?

8 April 2008, Netherlands, Meppel forrest.

I seem to please a lot of people with this interesting group of flies, so here is the next one:D.
I think this one might be Botanophila fugax.
Or isn't it?:(

I must say, it looks indeed very simular to my B.fugax
Two long pv in middle on hind femur and all the other chaetotaxy of the legs seems to fit.
Do you have taken an other photo from above ?
To have a better view of the acrostichals and maybe from the costa of the wings..?

I have no dorsal view, but un uncropped version of the first picture gives perhaps some more details

Lets say....80% sure it is B.fugax
As no-expert i don't dare to say for sure ..it is! :D

Joke is right, fugax is easy to recognise if one can look at the acrostichals-- a couple of stronger prst ones followed by fine hairs. Also the abdomen is rather shining seen from behind
