Hi,
After seeing Stephan's female, I wonder if this could be the male? Taken on 22nd June 2009, it was too high to get the wings but I got two pics of which I have cropped a closer side view, giving 3 pics. Near Lincoln UK.

Do you have a close-up of the tip of abdomen ? If sternite 5 proeminent and long haired, it could be
Helina trivittata.

This looks a little like a pinned specimen in the gallery of
Myospila meditabunda. I'm only going on looks though, I'm probably way off!;)

I found some pics of
Myospila meditabunda which look very much like my fly. I might have the female too, will post that later separately. Any opinions on that?
