Hi,

One pic only of this, 3mm maximum. It was on Primrose leaves, my garden near Lincoln UK. Not sure where it belongs.

Janet:)

Thank you Stefan! I can't find any pics of it, there is not even the genus in the Gallery here. We only have one species, Anepsiomyia flaviventris so if it could be confirmed this would be a good addition to the Gallery.:)

The species name 'flaviventris' does somehow suggest a yellowish ventral side, which this has.

Anepsiomyia Bezzi includes world-wide one single species: Anepsiomyia flaviventris (Meigen, 1824).

Thank you again Stefan. That is what I was finding when searching, references worldwide! Still no pics though.:|

Could you tell me what you have used to identify it? Do you have drawings, a key or photo in a book etc.?

I'm trying to establish if this would be safe to put in the Gallery as Anepsiomyia flaviventris. I searched this site and only found my post with this mentioned! That seems strange as I don't think it is very rare, or maybe it's very shy and not often seen.;)

I have now had confirmation of this, so am condfident I can put it in the gallery. It is said to be localised but widespread in marshes, fens etc. and there's nothing else like it. Thanks to Steven 'falky' and a big thanks to you Stefan.B):D

Happy New Year Igor!

Thank you for posting that, although I admit to preferring the live version ;). I knew somone had to have a specimen, and your pic must be only the second one of this on the internet!:)
