Hi,
I found this type of little fly on several occasions in the local nature reserve in Gent, Belgium.
very hard to get a decent pic. of them. This one was making its toilet on a thistle bud.
Date: 11July 2009

I have been looking in the Gallery but couldn't find an exact match with my little fly.
Thanks! :)

Hi bonitin,

Looks like Sicus ferrugineus, can't say for certain if male or female but I would think male. Best let someone else confirm.;)

Conopidae yes
Myopa NO

It is Sicus ferrugineus.

Fond of violet Compositae, like in the picture.

Hear Zeegers. ;)
This year I saw lots of this species! But nothing beats Myopa picta in Conopidae.
