Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinid Phryxe sp.?

Hi,

I had named this one Phryxe heraclei but find there are more Phryxe species which are not identifiable from photos, I think! Posting anyway just in case.

Two pics, taken on my pond near Lincoln UK on 18th September 2009.

Sturmia bella :) Phryxe would have hairy eyes and median discals ... amongst other things ;)

oooh, isn't that the new one here? I can't see any records a far north as I am, unless they haven't been entered yet.:D

I think we have had them up there - it would be expected as they are pretty common in southern and middle England ... unfortunately on any 'expanding' species the published maps are likely to be lagging behind the times somewhat ;)
