Hi,
This was inmy garden on 21st May 2009, a few miles south of Lincoln UK. A quite small fly.

I'm really not sure but it resembles
Epicampocera succincta :)

I've checked the UK species list, it appears we only have Epicampocera succincta here so that should be correct.:)

Yes, i think the genus
Epicampocera only has that species, in the world and we certainly only have
succincta :) It is just quite easy to recognise with the hairy eyes, black palps and quite blue-black body, which of course doesn't mean it is the only species like that - but it's a fair bet :)
