Hello,
this ~8mm fly is from july from the austrian alps. Unfortunately I only have this photo. The most similar species I know is Thricops cunctans.
Can this fly be identified? Or do I have to label it "unknown muscidae.
Thanks,
Michael

This is very likeley
Thricops, but not
T. cunctans. The fore tibia with long pv and fronto-orbital plates separated by a narrow stripe let me think it could be
Thricops aculeipes. Please, tell me you have anaother picture showing the hind leg (which bear a very strange process ventrally)...

Hello Stephane,
thank you for your answer at first. Unfortunately I don't have another picture of this fly. I think I will then safe the picture as Thricops sp.
