Hi,

Yesterday, 20th November 2009, I found two Phorid flies on my bedroom window. I wondered if they were male and female and had crept through a very narrow opening as I saw a mating pair going between greenhouse glass panes earlier in the year.

The bigger orange one was perhaps 4mm or less, smaller one 3mm less.

I can't find any which come close anywhere, so hoping our expert (Brian Brown) is able to give at least a genus if not a species.;) Thank you in advance!:)

Location: Near Lincoln, UK.

3 pics of larger fly, 4 pics of smaller fly. (adding that I can crop to show closer details if required on the originals)

They both look like Megaselia. I doubt that they are the same species, though.

Thank you Brian. I think Megaselia are not easy to get to species but that is close enough.:) It is strange to have two different species inside at the same time as I rarely see Phorids.B)
