Hello!

With this only 4 mm long fly I am even not sure about the family. Heleomyzidae? Perhaps Scoliocentra? The wing markings and size reminded me of Pallopteridae at first... At the light in our garden tonight, northwest Germany.

Hi, all!

Thanks! Pallopteridae was indeed my first thought, too (as I wrote). But when comparing it with my own P. scutellata pics and the one in the gallery, I did not find it very convincing. This one seemed much brighter in colours, more like a Tephrochlamys (Heleomyzidae). But you are right: the wing markings match Palloptera scutellata very well (even though those of the specimen in the gallery are much stronger).
