Hi All

This rather attractive fly seen on heathland in Cheshire North West England during September .
If it is not possible to get down to species level genus or family would be a help.
Sorry for any mistakes in my first posting hopefully I have got it correct this time.

Cheers Harry

Change the title to Tachinidae and the right people will see it!

Linnaemya vulpina is the most likely on heathland - pity the femur isn't visible but I don't think we have another species with so much red colouration on the abdomen :)

Hi Stephen,Stephane and ChrisR

Thanks for your suggestions.
I will post a second picture which shows some of the femur, hopefully it may be enough to determine it down to species level.
