Is it possible to tell species of this black male Chrysops?
Perhaps relictus or caecutiens. Only this picture.

I have my doubts.
The pleurae are completely black haired, so it seems. That would suggest Ch. sepulchralis.

Any info on the habitat ?

Thanks for your both answers on my Tabanidaes.

This one was along a gravel road near a coniferous forest and a forest lake.

Thanks again
