Hello,

I'm not entirely sure about this Chrysops, so I would be very happy for your opinion :). The tibiae are brown, but I can't make out any stripes on the thorax - is it still C. relictus?

Location: Eich-Gimbsheim, RLP, Germany
Date: 31.05.2009
Habitat: on a path between a lake and a deciduous forest

Kind regards,
Kathrin

It is a male and they are little different... I think it is C. viduatus. But I have low experiances with males. Libor

Yes, viduatus is most likely.
Abberant specimens can only by IDed by the length of the palpi.
