Hello,

this ~7mm fly is from april from Tenerife (canary islands). First I thought about genus Stomorhina, but now I found Rhinia apicalis in the gallery, which seems to fit rather well. Is this correct, or what else could it be?

Thanks,
Michael

It is certainly NOT Stomorhina and my guess would be Rhinia as well.

Hello Theo,

thank you for your answer. If it is a Rhinia, it must be Rhinia apicalis. This is according to the Fauna Europaea the only species in Europe, and is only found on the canary islands (and north africa and other tropical and subtropical regions of the world).

Greetings,
Michael
