Probably yes, but scutellum and costa is not visible.

Hmm, it is not a
Suillia :( . Humeral bristle present, two katepisternals, Mesopleuron with a big dot ! (maybe it is the base of a missing bristle ?)

next: two orbitals, and big acrostichal setulae, posterior cross-vein darkened ...
hmm, it should be a new "Heleomyzoid" tribe even it is not a Lauxaniid "formed" fly :o

Thank you Katerina and Andrzej, it looks like it's a difficult one! ;) It was too high to get a pic of the scuttelum from above, :@ I will keep my eyes open for it and try to get more pics if it should come again.
Andrzey, you said:

Any more thoughts on that?:)

In my opinion it's not a Heleomyzid fly :D

Thanks Andrzej!:)
Any more thoughts as to where it could be placed, a 'gut' instinct perhaps? :D

Blowave, It's far easier if you collect the specimen ;)

:o I don't like doing that. :| But I do understand the need! That is if it is possible to get the thing before it flies off!

FWIW, to my untrained eye this looks like a Lauxaniidae.

Thanks lagura, my eye is probably more untrained than yours, but I was going on the pic in the gallery of Suillia bicolor and it looks very much like that. It's your pic ;) identified by Andrzej! :P:D

I have cropped off the pics to their full magnification to come within the 600 pixels, only the front end but if anyone wants me to crop off the tail end I can do that too. They might show the details better.

Thanks again Andrzej! And dare I suggest
Meiosimyza rorida? I found on a google an old thread where Paul said it should have a row of short setulae on the inner side of the fore femur. I'm not sure if that can be seen on my pics either! ;)

Looking at the first of the cropped pics, the right side front inner femur is visible, and I can see some short setulae, or short bristles if that's what is meant!

This is absolutely a lauxaniid. I agree this is Meiosimyza - probably rorida.

Once again, thanks to all for your help. :) Perhaps I should put the pic showing the setulae in the gallery as this looks to be a certainty.B)
