Because I don't want Liekele to get bored,
can Sarcophaga (Robineauella) caerulescens be confirmed with this peculiar aedeagus ?

Date : Sept 11, 2009
Location : Le Havre, in wood.
Size : 15 mm.

Stephan,

Why do you doubt your id? Is it the literature your using?

When using Povolny 1997 you might have some doubt, because the real thing looks different from the drawing. But Rohdendorf 1937 and Lehrer 2008 will leave you little doubt.

This is indeed Sarcophaga (Robineauella) caerulescens.

Thanks a lot Liekele,
I use Pape 1987 and Povolny & Verves 1997, and it's true the drawings can bring doubts in the latter. Furthermore, there might have some french Sarcophaga that are not covered by this litterature, as this is the case for S. jeanleclercqi I find rather frequently in my area.

I can't help wondering what the rest of it looks like:)

Oh, it really looks like any other Sarcophaga. But I can make a photo if you want...

I have checked several resources. There are only two species known of Sarcophaga (Robineauella) in Europe at this moment. The second species (pseudoscoparia) being different.

If you like Sarcophagidae, at least your are the only one showing us there genitalia on diptera.info, you should try to get a copy of Rohdendorf 1937. The drawings of genitalia are schematic but very helpful. Most of his drawings are also in Bei Bienko, but with lower quality.

Also drawings of Lehrer in his Fragmenta Dipterologica are helpful though his view on nomenclature is different from other autors on Sarcophagidae, which might be confusing sometimes.
