Found this one on Fuchsia this morning...a bit windy hence poor photo's (sorry Joke), but at least it' a male :P. Size...just under 10mm maybe.
Right with my guestimation??

As a former employee. I trust you will be happy to have humiliated me publicly with your determination of the above fly. But your scheme has failed as I am made of much sterner stuff than you imagine.
In fact I am rather pleased it wasn't Hydrotaea dentipes, as should your rather dubious determination turn out to be correct, then this will be another unrecorded species to add to my ever growing list.
