20-27 may 2008. Mal. trap Tilburg. Kaaistoep-West Netherlands N-B RD-Coor. 128-394
I'm thinking off Rhinophoridae, but the color is strange brown/red......

Hi Joke,
This one is not from a beer trap but from a malaise trap! So maybe too much alcohol, but not too much beer;).

Yes, it seems to be a Rhinophoridae. I can't tell the wing venation, can you (topcel open or long stalked ?)

Topcel is stalked (2x R-M vein)
And vein Dm-Cu with an arc inwards....
I think it could be Paykullia maculata (male)..?

If it is
P. maculata, it's a strangely coloured one. Maybe a teneral?

In that case,it is Melanophora roralis, given the head profile.

M. roralis fits better I think (completely darkened wings). And it's also a much better species to find than
P. maculata:).
