This one recently from chalk downland in SE England, photographed resting on Bastard Toadflax Thesium humifusum. Could it be Urophora quadrifasciata?

Nice photo - that tiny Thesium flower really shows how incredibly small that fly was :D

Many thanks Valery and yes Chris quite a tiddler - well spotted! I think he small Syrphid we saw shortly after was a Paragus - will email you photos soon
