I bought italian keys but need "small" characters, as it doesenīt seem to have black ground colour, in case it was italian it would be Prosimuliini (not Simulium, then) : ( sorry, they are lovely

Thanks Paqui
I only have two species of Simuliidae on my Checklist for Shetland. They are
Simulium aureum and
Simulium zetlandense, the second one being endemic.
Don't know which this might be of those two, or maybe something else which has gone unrecorded. They are quite small and easy to miss.

I canīt help, again, Iīve got no info for your endemic one, and here it is the point in the keys for S aureum:
-"hairs on 8th sternite donīt surpass the posterior lobe of the gonapophysis" -> S. aureum
-(the point before that): Mandibole with distal teeth just at one side (more info about gonofurca et al.) -> Eusimulium
Itīs a pity buying a book useless for photographs :(

Thank you once again for your efforts Paqui. I thought it would take a bit more than a photo to get to species level with these little things.
Simulium sp. will have to do.
