Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinidae 1 from Póvoa Dão - Meigenia sp. (female)

This fly was spot in 18th August 2009 in Póvoa Dão. 5 mm size.

Is it an Actia?

Hi,

Might be something in the direction of female Meigenia. No clue about the others you posted... Portuguese fauna is quite exotic for me.

thanks... so, being a female Meigenia I think it is unreliable the species name just by photos?... or this is not the case?..

I think the main problem is that the females of some species can be identified but with a few of the commonest species the females are unidentifiable at the moment so you always have a high chance of owning an "indet" female Meigenia :D
