Hi
I spotted this miltogramminae (?) last week in Serra da Estrela.
What could this be? Size (medium fly): around 6 mm.

It might be Hilarella again (seen last week in another post).
Is the arista slightly plumose or completely bare ?

very, very slightly pubescent. The arista has really very small microtrichia.

The arista has to be pubescent (using magnification 80x).
Unfortunately all necessary features are not 100% visible on these - otherwise nice - pictures.
But it is not Hilarella. All specimens in my collection have more or less grey femur, yellow tibiae and black tarsi.
This one has black legs. Furthermore the costal bristle on the wing margin is to small. In Hillarella it is nearly as long as cs2.
This will be a female of Metopodia pilicornis.
Check whether:
- R5 not closed at wing margin
- proanepisternum is hairy
- vibrissae above mouth edge
- vein r4+5 with bristles nearly until r-m
