Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachina fera?

I was sent this picture of a
Tachina from a colleague in Norfolk. I suspect it's
Tachina fera, but the legs seem rather dark. Can someone remind me how to separate
fera and
magnicornis?

(that is why the legs are so dark !)

I guess it is rather rare inUK: it is extinct in NL.

It's not particularly rare in the south of england - under a line drawn between Lincolnshire and Bristol, for instance. I get them in my garden every year, fairly commonly, however I think it is easy for people to under record
Nowickia because they look superficially similar to
T.fera :)
