common fly in London garden but got some good photos of it and would like to be certain of species, this seemed best photo for ID purposes:

Cyzenis albicans ?

Are you sure it is common ?
It looks like Estheria (bohemani).

Unlikely to be bohemani in London but possibly cristata? I'd like to see more angles ... or a specimen :D

Cannot see any details, but if it's common and this colour:Allophorocera ferruginea?

He Jaakko, the topcel is petiolated ! Have a close look !
Moreover, the vertex is rather broad.
It really is Estheria, and Chris is right, it is cristata

Theo is again right... I haven't seen this species before! It should be about the same size as ferruginea, scary if I've ignored this one on the field!

I've seen a few in my area but they are surprisingly anonymous-looking until you get a close look at the head and see their bristles ... then they become easy :D

Well, they have rather long legs, like most Dexiinae, so you will pick them out no doubt, Jaakko
